Singer Songwriter

As a songwriter, I write about my life and the lives of my friends and family. If something moves me then I will write a song and sometimes what emerges feels kind of special. After drunkenly playing some songs to people I worked with in a pub, I was harangued into playing at an open mic afternoon there. I got a positive response and have carried on playing my songs for people ever since.

I've sung in Birmingham and in London at venues as varied as The Spice of Life in Soho to The Market Tavern in Digbeth, taking in many a cocktail bar and dive bar along the way.

My songs are passionate and often raw and after listening to them people have compared my voice to Joan Baez.

I can perform alone with my guitar or with a bass player and/or guitarist thrown into the mix. I have about an hour of original material but can easily throw some original takes on covers to extend the set to several hours if required.

I really enjoyed the performance - particularly the warm-up section - it takes a lot of emotion to carry off that style of beat poetry, but you made it modern, believable and stylish... Im a big fan of that form and have seen how easy it is to make it sound insincere and corny... you injected enough passion into it to make it sound "real," that is, from the heart.... the spoken part of the performance carried through this very personal and emotive style... one-person shows must be the hardest thing in the world in terms of flow and maintaining audience interest, without lapsing into self-indulgence... you made it work and I thoroughly enjoyed it, great job!
